A normalized address is easier to compare, but formatting does not establish that a proxy is reachable, authorized, or suitable for a destination. Keep credentials separate from shared lists and choose the protocol that your client actually supports.

Does formatting test the proxy?
No. It only parses and rewrites address text. Use the separate checker for an authorized reachability test.
Which address format should I use?
Use the format required by your client, such as a scheme followed by host and port, and confirm how that client represents authentication.
Are invalid lines removed?
Valid lines can be normalized while invalid lines are reported. Review the errors before treating the output as a complete list.
